She’s Watching Me…

My daughter watches every move I make.  Yesterday I was preparing for my first day at my new church. My mind was ready…my heart was struggling a little. Not because I didn’t want to go. But because change is SOOOOO HARD!

But as I was getting ready for the morning, my daughter came into the bathroom where I was to put on “her makeup.” And I was humbled. Because…well she’s watching me.

She’s watching me put my own makeup on.
She’s watching me cook dinner.
She’s watching me play games on my phone or text my friends and family.
She’s watching me work….and get ready for the gym.

She’s watching me on Teams Meetings or preparing for a business trip.

And this is all great but…

She’s watching me…
She’s watching how I treat people.
She’s watching me and how I react in difficult situations.
She’s watching me while in traffic (ouch).
She’s watching me when people don’t show much love to me or the ones I love (my husband, kids, “rent-a-kids”, my family, my friends).
She’s watching me love others
She’s watching me be loved by her dad. And fortunately she has a great role model of how a man should love his wife.
She’s watching me when I’m hurt.

She’s watching me set boundaries…and how I set priorities…(I wish I could model this better.)

But more importantly…she’s watching me LOVE the Lord, SERVE the Lord, PRAY to the Lord, LIVE like the Lord.
And that’s scary. Because I fall short every single day.
When I judge, so does she. When I love, so does she. When I cry, she wonders why. When I am happy, she wants to be a part of it.

But she isn’t the only one.
Friends…your loved ones are watching you. Your enemies are watching you closer. So if they are going to watch…give them a life to watch. LIVE life to the fullest following God’s lead. LAY DOWN those resentments and bitterness. LOVE even when it’s hard. LET go of yourself and your selfishness. STAY HUMBLE. We can learn a lot from each other if we allow it.

Because our lives are a model. What kind of model do you want to be for those you love?

Because you have your own “she’s watching” person in your life.  And you might not even realize it.
